Hospice EBOP

The Hospice movement is about Living Every Moment, and providing professional and caring palliative care for those who are terminally ill. We work hard to achieve these goals and have a team of highly-experienced health professionals and management to ensure that happens.

Hospice Eastern Bay of Plenty is a Non-government organisation (NGO) and relies heavily on contracts from our local district health board, as well as the generosity of our sponsors and donors. Above all, our priority has always been, and will always continue to be, our patients and their families.

Hospice EBOP supports patients and their family/ whanau to assist the patient to:

  • be cared for in the place of their choice

  • live each day as fully as possible

  • die with dignity in the place of their choice

Hospice EBOP was founded in 1984 as a result of concerns expressed by social workers at Whakatane Hospital regarding much-needed community support for the terminally ill in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

The Trust Deed was signed in June 1986, receiving its non-profit status and Certificate of Incorporation.
