The Opotiki Fundraising Day held on 6th October at the Opotiki Golf Club, raising funds for Hospice EBoP went off without a hitch. With over $6,000 raised for Hospice EBoP, the team are very pleased with the results. The team of volunteers behind this fundraising initiative, led by Doris and Pip, did a terrific job creating a day out for the EBoP community with stunning home tours, a fashion show put on by Too Pretty and Opotiki Pharmacy, a huge range of incredible raffles, a fast paced auction finished with a delectable high tea.
“We are blown away with the generous support of local businesses, donors, ticket buyers, volunteers and fashion models” said Hospice Fundraising Manager Anna Hughes. “The Opotiki community is really generous and we’re so grateful for their support.” The Opotiki community can be sure that their support will come back around, as 1 in 6 of Hospice EBoP’s patients reside in the Opotiki region.
Hospice EBoP is a local charity that serves Eastern Bay residents with a life shortening illness. With specialist clinical team and equipment that gives comfort, Hospice works under the palliative care philosophy to improve the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering.
The team at Hospice EBOP would like to acknowledge and thank the organisers and everyone who put their time in to raise funds for our free service to end of life patients. “We have to raise $500,000 from the community every year to support our patients, help them add life into their days and live as well as they can - with dignity and comfort. Many thanks to the individuals who donated, opened their homes, gave their time and attended the events, and the many businesses who made it so successful,” said Mrs Hughes.
Hospice will use the funds raised to support EBOP patients to receive free end of life care.
