We are pleased to share this winter newsletter as we head into spring and warmer weather. During the winter months we’ve focused on developing a lot of behind the scenes material as well as progressing with our community consultation in the Eastern Bay.

Thanks so much to those of you who completed the online survey after reviewing our strategic plan. If you missed out and still want to have your say, you can do this now; just visit our homepage or give us a call, so we can post a copy out to you.

Attached is our newsletter with the latest updates, including the upcoming fundraiser in Opotiki and a golf tournament in Whakatane. Not mentioned in our newsletter is also a motorbike ride “Mountain to the Sea” on 10th November organised by Whakatane Ulysses as a fundraiser for Hospice. If you’re interested in this fantastic event, you can email whakatane.sec@ulysses.org.nz and register.

Going forward, we will have a focus on raising awareness of the options donors have to support us, and the ability to “tag” a gift to a cause other than general purposes. This “tag” could be for a specific asset like patient equipment, operational costs, or investment in the capital fund. This gives you control over your gift and what you want your impact to be.

Over time we wish to grow the existing capital fund where possible, thus reducing our reliance on having to fundraise to bridge the gap between what funding we receive, and what it really costs to continue providing a sustainable and quality service.

Thank you so much for your support of Hospice. Every bit of support, from advocacy, to your time and donations, together supports specialist care for EBoP residents, helping them to be as comfortable and supported as possible and focus on living well while they can.
